Animation Pipeline Improvements

I've been doing some work with animated models lately, and encountered some of the difficulties people have mentioned with model animations. It's not really hard to do, but there are things we can do to make the process faster when dealing with lots of animations. This video explains some of the changes I made to make it easier to get animated models into Leadwerks.

These include:

  • Animation name in extraction dialog.
  • Animation tab with all sequences displayed at once.
  • Import animation frames from a text file.
  • Play animation in editor.

These changes will be available on the beta branch on Steam shortly.

Nice improvement over the current one! Once the sequences are created, can we for example, rename and/or change the frames in the named sequence or have delete and recreate it?

Glad this all happened and will make a substantial difference to models and animations. it was quite a process re importing an animated model every time you make a change. Having a file which remembers all the values is great.

Also noticed there is now a play/stop button added below now too.

Can I make one suggestion... If you re import/overwrite a model with animations it would be real neat if the animation and material values are transferred to the new version without having to import the animation file and assign the textures again. Maybe give the user the option if they want to do this in a messagebox? May or may not work, but just a thought.

Love these new improvements nice work.

The new improvements have made life so much simpler. What used to be a frustrating day of troubleshooting and working between various applications to import just one model's multiple animations is now a 10 minute job. Thanks!

One more request on future additions to the model Editor: maybe the ability to select multiple animations at a time just for deleting purposes?
