As many people are focused on FPS like Rick said : perhaps some hero character soldier with each category weapon : gun, rifle,snipe,grenade, bazooka, with dedicaced animations and with realistic FPS view allowing to view legs and foots. Many people make zombie/humanoid games, perhaps give them some ? Perhaps submit some vote here or on Steam sayign what character style you would want to see on LE3 ?
  4. @Rick : Did you tried the shorcut way ? because it just works, you just need to be logged to Steam, than launch LE3 from shortcut.
  5. @Charrua : Good dig on physics. You could make physic on big plants using Slider perhaps ?
  6. I have ATI 3D card perhaps no acceleration ,but at least i can run AAA games really good with capes, clothes etc ... Nvidia Physix for non Nvidia cards have optimized system with less detailled physics, but they work and at least you have really good clothe,cap etc .... simulation. Bunch of 3D engines uses Nvidia physics for any 3D card could it be AMD or Nvidia, Nvidia wil have advantage to be able to push lot mroe far physics without any frame rate slow down. There is a problem with the vegetation shader, the rendering is really not good like alpha is not very well taken account , i got a very different and best result using LE3 diff/norm/spc/alpha shader and shadow instead. But seems good on shadmar video ? perhaps it renders not good only in the editor and better in real time ? (i got a project update problem caus of my firewall so can't run the game for now)
  8. I tested the model, unfortunatelly the alpha is on the normal map, i presume LE3 needs alpha map on the diffuse texture. Some strange behaviour also on material editor : : i try choosing DXT5 for normal map, when saving LE3 automatically switches to DXT5n ?
  9. @Shadmar , about frame rate is your solution better ? Caus as a custom solution you can have any custom ranges you want. About objects, when they are big structures : big rock assets, big building castles, it would need to behave differently and even been visible on long distances combined with some LOD.

  11. Newton 3 is not evolving in terms of functionnality , so this means LE3 will never have clothes and other advanced physic features ? Or will it be some solution ?
  12. I thaught we had some example tree model and texture as start base and to test visually , but the downlaod only contains the shaders. Ouch the download section has been replaced by Steam Workshop without transferring some really good stuff from Downloads section to Steam
  13. I really would like some "Publish zipped" button, easy for all people, assets protected a minimum from all non crackers people instead of full visible textures and models inside folders.
  14. This must be some Steam servers or other problem on their side, this had already happened in the past, not same error problem, but some other blocking problems. Just wait until they get that fixed to be able to download it. I can launch LE3 Steam version using the default installation shortcut.
  15. I think it's part of optimisation to not display backfaces (like Minecraft style systems also) ? To resume brushes should be used only for static level design mainly like any BSP system.
  16. Should be better and more clear for your project. Did you save map file before quit and restart ? seems some bug perhaps. For shadows verify quality, shader choosen, and verify material visibility options like displaying backfaces "on", i can't detail as i can't launch LE3 for now.
  17. Does LE3 have admin rights to write the file ? Does location has changed ? Did you search the file on other directories ?
  18. For trees, i don't know as you need to animate branches mainly , not the trunck or this is a thin tree and there is lot of wind ? So for trees i would gor for bones animations , why not ? Making a scene alive introducing motion and effects is what makes the difference nowadays compared to static ones, would be good to have that in LE3.
  19. I seen no waving grass on downloads or workshop for LE3 ? It is some LE3 waving grass using a shader somewhere perhaps ?
  20. How do you attribute objects to a cell ? At game loading i presume ? depending on position put object in the right cell ? So Lua with some 80000 table entity pointers works good ?
  21. The problem is when there is a Steam problem you can't switch to offline mode, as you must be connected to choose "offline mode", so you're blocked. This is where standalone version is lot more secure system agains any Steam/internet connection failure.. I got same error, no Steam, no LE3 When that happens, this is where you prefer software non dependant on network or provider.
  22. Some grid based system could have been great also , map divided on some grid coordinates, each object position then would belong to a square of the grid, and you would display only the objects on the squares around and in front of the camera. So having some game option to choose how many objects to display in a radius around the player should be the way to choose the best performance possible. If you would post some demo with non copyright trees and rocks, i would be interest to test it and see how performance goes.
  23. @Shadmar : seems amazing Could it be used to place any object type , i mean small objects assets, to houses , any number of variety ? How to place them in the editor : manually or using some helper paint on perrain tool ? (maintain mouse button to continuously place objects as you drag the mouse)

    Would be good to unlock some specific clothes, character decoration available when you loggin. Going far on the game would unlock that specific stuff other coop players could see meaning you are an advanced and skilled player.
