  1. Just by curiosity who is going to publish a commercial project with LE 3.1 ? Small or bigger project , something planned withint next two years ? For me : Some very small indie roguelike dungeon based RPG for PC. Who else ?
  2. Hummm ... publishing, configuration was a pain, in Unity i got installed in 5 minutes, deploying a project on my mobile just pushing a button, LE3 was too much behind. Same for virtual joysticks and controls , LE3 even had not jostick but a "4 direction" buttons. Unity allow to use several virtual ready to use controls you visually adjust in virtual camera etc ... LE3 pipeline from my experience was very far from good if you had used some other prooven solutions even in the free previous UDK 3. I don't agree, some people like me buying 3.0 was for mobile , i was not ok with 3.1 going Windows/linux eye/Candy. And i never wanted Deffered on mobile, i was surprised seeing that demand and thaught what people was wanting to do on mobile ? tech demos or selling games working on most platforms possible ? This is not a matter of who follow,as he followed the market and the demand and adapted to what arrives in the market (like said : Unity, Intel, UE4 etc ....), only good sense and adaption. I think LE3 last direction to remain strong direction now : PC/Linux/Steam All advanced features + indy price + No Royalties + incoming features/tools This seems solid indeed. Why LE3 would putt so much effort mobile when others offers for FREElot more advanced features/tools/extensions/GUI etc ... This makes sense for LE3 if it wants to keep grow in this last right direction allowing benefits and not sales massive drop down. Unity Pro advanced graphics/features : big prices for lonewolf indies - Upgrades cycle fast it becomes expensive fast UE4 : Royalties to take care of for all your life if you sell a game - complicated to report sales - they have insights on your buziness Open Source : lacks lot of complete good world editor and maps/project management , performance and tools are lacking some times - as open source it can take lot of time before seeing some asked feature implemented Just my point of view.
  3. Indeed they won't drop down mobile as they have so games published each month , see their WIP or Showcase forums. And it's makes lot of advert as their Free version displays Unity logo on mobile games ! There is open source 3D engines for mobile , optimized and complete also or other solutions like Shiva 3D and others .... Don"t plan what's next in two years, you have mobile tools today, just use them. I think kickstarter just worked as some indicator at final showing the demand was strong for PC eye candy stuff and Linux than mobile or Ouya (almost forgottent console). Than Steam changed a lot LE3 in advert point , to bring lot more people compared to LE2 where LE engine was barely known from other people doing 3D.
  4. Just my point of view on mobile : Deffered too slow for mobile, once again like PC : targetting brute GPU without optimisation and high mobile standard it's non sense at all. What many people don't understand is mobile is not high tech, lot of people making games just use simple 3D and some nice 3D effects , specially non veteran 3D artists will not go for high graphics on mobile. Why Unity brings 2D in mobile 2D is the bigger market on mobile, any indie can make 2D games easy could it be RPG , RTS , puzzle etc ... mobile is not only Quad GPU games you buy, this is a lot indie simple and very cheap ones and free ones and great succesfull simple games. Only one example : Angry Birds : does it needs deferred ? Mobile mass market means able to run 2D games and simple 3D ones on my simple 50$ phone and on other tablets , this is what i epxect from 3D engine for mobile , not only support for Apple or only last hardware. One point people ha sforgotten, is that Unity has gonna Free mobile suddenly : this has changed a lot on mobile market possibilities : - Prooven, optimized, even super low platform support - All mobile tools/controls/plugin ar in it like optimized one draw call GUI etc ... -Simple install of Android and want to publish : just plug your mobile press a button, and run app - Drag and drop virtual joystick and control components, visual placment/adjustment of controls I could not jump back to LE3 mobile after that. So yes LE3 has just concentrated in one point it can easy concurence it, full PC/Linux effects for indie price (specially Unity don't have Linux editor also !) It's simple adaptation, like Unity will have to adapt and change offers because of UE4 new offers. Making PC high end we can see takes so much time and where is grass ? CGS Tools ? simple to use in editor water system ? finished full screen effects ? It takes so much time .... and i really hope to see some precomputed lightening fast solution instead of brute shadows system fro level. Mobile would just slow down all LE3 PC/Linux needs and make it delay too much.
  5. I seen an open source physical based shader. It's implemented in Unity, but as open source , so it's free , open, i thaught : Why not having it in LE3 ? perhaps just need some shader adapations to make it work ? I don't know as i'm not shader specialist if it would be too much owrk, or not compatible/generic enought ? It has all range of physicshaders you could need and some advanced pretty ones. Vertex blending + shader And a lot of others for all you could need as materials : (It's a more some idea suggestion only and possible integration for LE3 perhaps , not a real need )
  6. @bandwrek : You don't need step : delete texture from slot if you make a new material instead of "generate material" and you'll have the bug. Something is broken in material/texture system. Strange : are we the only ones working intensive with LE3 and making materials ?
  7. Ahhaha so simple Would it be possible with a map ? I mean like shaders having some slots for custom maps ?
  8. This is how works Leadwerks 3.1 FPS demo : mouse reading and recentring each frame. This is not whta can drop frame rate (i have frame rate drop even on TPS games protorypes)
  9. I had some refund proposition, but i didn't wanted it, i thaught let's this be some contribution to help make better LE3 Engine. Contribution, even open source donation is a good thing , caus it helps things evolve. For mobile, you have big concurrents, even offering great stuff for some 200$ or even for free all mobile solution : from virtual customizable controls ready to use, lot of optimisation tricks and system already implemented for you ... why going LE3 ? I'm not sure it could be a good strategy if there is no demand, caus bug fixing fro every problems , improving it, bringing new versions etc ... will cost lot of time and only delays all other platforms. Sometimes, it's better do one or two things very well than a lot and not so good. The demand has changed a lot, majority of people asked high PC standards, and particulary Deffered system , real time shadows, effects etc ... than Linux people wanted Leadwerks 3. So this remains the priority for now. I also prefer to see coming CSG tools , grass etc ... on PC. But well , who knows mobile in LE3 could return some day if Leadwerks 3.1 would be polished enought complete, we'll see.
  10. Yes, terrain lacks simply specular shader, this has nothing to do with substance from a shader point of view. Terrain uses it's own fixed shaders, but adding some new one allowing specular i think this is easy, but i'm not shader coder at all. It's a suggestion, i don't need it , but as i was toying with terrain, and wanting snow, i just seen we could not make specular like in games
  11. Well ... Depends on your Android game level graphics, but you can for now simply use other free and non free 3D engines, that offers optimisation prooven and advanced controls and systems. It's better having LE3 strong one day and shine in PC/Linux with features implemented (grass/tree system, CSG tools etc ... Multiple platforms means, bugs , otpimisation , new mobile support to develop etc ... it can be too much and will only slow down main platforms.
  12. Why not ? How can we paint snow specular map on terrain ? How can we have a terrain cover of water (specular effect) caus it is rainning ?
  13. You know the price of these tools ? Lot of indie just use Blender. Not all programmers will buy substance, people just toying with LE3 , not sure also they will buy, myself for now im' not interested in it, because LE3 don't have physicale based shaders. Making SD extension to LE3 will be possible if more than some 4 or 5 people are asking it i think. Yes LE3 will need physic shaders to be able to use SD textures like metal and others.
  14. Needed extensions like GUI , is different as this is core 3D engine component and LE3 don't have any advanced GUI ... SD is not core 3D engines component but some optional extension indeed. I'm for extensions, but not just "hey that's cool, let's integrate it" When engine becomes popular and more 3D artists use it, yes a good bunch of exentsions are asked, but LE3 is mainly programmer core people. For SD , it will ask also LE3 to have physical based shaders (or advanced ones to talk mor easy).

  18. Steam 3.1 Beta Do you have same ? Could you try the file environnment shader (it's diffuse + shadmar modifications)
  19. How do you do forget a code ? I will never be able to remember all my Zbrush and other licence codes without having the on a mail or written somehewre
  20. I added some lights and crawlers so it runs less smooth and problem is lot more visible. You see a fraction second , where some walls where not rendered, caus of occlusion delay.

  24. LE3 FPS demo on FPSPlayer.lua already calls other entities script functions., this is one example to dig.
  25. Some guys do that using open source engine already.
