  1. right on. Thanks for the info!
  2. I was referring to getting a used desktop from my office and just upgrading the graphics. I know it doesn't work to upgrade a laptop. Never heard of an external GPU docking station through. Looking into that in about 2 seconds.
  3. Thought about that, but I can't find where to plug that thing into my laptop . Good suggestion though. I might have to check on stealing an old laptop from my work, and slowly upgrading it. Hypothetically, if I can run Visual Studio Developers Team Suite Edition 2008, and I upgrade the graphics cards as suggested, should I be golden? or at least workable?
  4. I am sure that I am alone in this, but my request would be to see an editor that works on lower-end machines. I have been using Leadwerks as much as I can since I recieved it in Christmas, but sadly due to the state of my computer I am unable to properly use the editor to make custom graphics for use. As you can imagine this somewhat limits the creative juices. Believe me, if getting a newer better computer was an option it would have been done a long time ago. I am not sure what else I can do except make this request. Also if Werkspace had a forum for people to use to find teams, or groups to work with on projects, that would be awesome. A way for people interested more in graphics to get together with people more interested in programming, find others interested in the same things and work cooperatively on projects. Just an after thought!
  5. I have no problem programming with the pre-done graphics from the tutorials, I just can't edit them .
  6. Thanks for the responses guys. Sadly you have confirmed my suspicions. Short of buying a new computer (it is a laptop so upgrading the video is not an option) what can I do in terms of work arounds. Or do you know where I can find some pre-done graphics so I can still keep working with the programming side of it while I look for a decent laptop laying on the side of the street . Also if I put my log file on here as an attachment would someone be able to glance over it and confirm the suspicions. I looked into it and it just said loading various shaders and then nothing else. No real reason for the exit, but I might not have been reading it 100% correct. Kinda strange. Anywho thanks for the input and for the further guidance.
  7. Is it possible for a sub-par graphics card to cause Leadwerks Editor to simply exit without message or explanation everytime I add anything to the grid. Doesn't matter what it is the program just exits. The graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600. I got this software as a Christmas present and have been concentrating on the programming aspect of it, but recently tried making some scenes and whatnot instead of just using the stuff from the tutorials. Any ideas on things to try would be great.
  8. Wow. After these last 2 questions you have answered for me you must think I am a little special . Once again thanks. And I promise I will start checking the Wiki before asking any more questions.
  9. Is it possible to us the built in intellisense functions that come with VS2008 along with LeadWerks? Or even just to have it label the key words with the appropriate colors like it does with the native C++ code? Just looking for some way to integrate LeadWerks even more into the whole programming experience.
  10. I found the problem. How embarrassing. I still had the physics from an old scene, but the drawing from the new screen.
  11. Wow thanks. That actually makes sense to me. Does this mean there is hope for me eventually? Joking. Thanks for the indepth explanation though. Would it be asking a little too much to ask for an explanation on how to effect the interactions (ex. sliding, stopping, informational).
  12. I am going through the tutorials, and trying to not only copy and paste the code out of them to hope and frankenstein a game together, but to actually understand what is going on in them as well. That is where this question comes from. What is the difference between EntityType(entity, 1) and EntityType(entity, 2)?!? Thanks for clarifying this for me!
  13. I have finished the Tutorial for Character Controller with the additions recommended here and in one other place. I can walk, run, jump, and everything! BUT (there is always a but) I can't walk up the ramps/stairs, and I am not walking on the floor. I am just floating in mid air. It is very weird. I can't find the problem. I have the gravity set, I have the mass set, I have collisions set, I don't know what else to set. Ideas?
  14. Much appreciated! I understand now. Sorry for being a little slow tonight. It was a long day
  15. not following what you mean, sorry. What key? and do you mean it is the username and password? Thanks for the quick reply though!
  16. Newbie here . Any other things I should look out for in the tutorials?
  17. First off, HI! I was working my way through the tutorial series for C++ to get my feet wet and get an idea what exactly this engine is capable of. I got the the Introduction To Models tutorial and when I tried to download the required files it asked for a user name and password . This was a first so I just tried the username and password for here to no avail. I am not sure what I am missing. Where can I get a Developer.LeadWerks.com username and password? Thanks for the help.
