Tommek
Hi Guys, I get this error "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" every time I want to open the tutorial maps. I already re-installed the Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 redistrubutable and OpenAL. Here is a log and my cfg. I would have attached this, but textfiles seemed to be blocked in the forum. scoco23
Seems similar to an issue I'm having. Can you load any maps at all? Can you start a new map without getting the exception?
Tommek
No, I can't start a new map. The Exception is thrown as soon as I press "New"
scoco23
Okay, sounds like we're in the same boat. I've attempted to delete and reinstall without any luck. For me, it loads the last map that I was able to open before I started getting the error when I launch. I've tried renaming a different map to the map name that loads on startup and that seems to work. The renamed different map will then load. However, from there I still can't load anything else. Most frustrating. I'm running Win 7 64 bit.

scoco23
scoco what graphics card do you have? Intel 4600. I have a Nvidia card I can swap out and try. Is it worth checking?
scoco23
Okay, so I put in my Nvidia 680 and tried it out. Sure enough, with that card the problem goes away. Odd though. I used the 4600 (on board) for quite a while. Went through all the tutorials with it, but things just stopped working at some point. Probably was a device driver update. I've been on the fence about getting a "real" video card for this PC, maybe now I will.
Josh
Okay thank you, I have not made any shader changes so I did not test on the Intel chip, but we know what the problem is now. 1 My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without. Josh
I'm able to produce an error in an OpenGL call with the visual debugger on these chips, but it's not an OpenGL error...investigating more. Josh
I think it's a bug in Intel's driver. There's no error in my code and no OpenGL error. The crash occurs inside glDrawElements(). Josh
It looks like the older Intel driver does not have this behavior. I installed this one and everything works fine: Intel 4000 (Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 64-bit) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23714 Intel 4000 (Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 32-bit) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23713 I am forwarding this information to Intel. 2 My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without. Unmanned
It looks like the older Intel driver does not have this behavior. When i click the link For the Intel drivers that you posted Josh, it brings me to a "page not found" on the Intel website. And i can't find it anywhere on the Intel website myself. Edit: I also went to this link https://communities.intel.com/message/251934#251934 and tried the win64 download, but it said my system does not meet the minimum requirements, so i tried the win32, and it said "The installation package is not supported by this processor type" Edit again: This probably did not work because i failed to recognize that joe_intel said "you can try using the driver linked below if the system includes Intel® HD Graphics 4200 or higher"

marioq82
I started having this same problem yesterday when I attempt to launch Leadwerks from Steam. Also, when I attempt to debug and run my project from Visual Studio I receive a "R6025 pure virtual function call" error message. I'm currently using an AMD 7800 series card. Had no issues prior to yesterday. Updated AMD drivers to current 14.301.1006-141009a-176674E(beta) package hoping that would solve the issue, but no dice. Currently have Catalyst Version 14.9, OpenGL Version 6.14.10.13085 installed. Don't know if any of that information will help, but thought I'd provide it. marioq82
So I went back into VS and stepped through the debugger and found that the program kept crashing once it attempted to access the atioglxx.dll. Upon further research, I found the following link (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?276523-ATI-driver-update-14-9-broke-HW2-(atioglxx-dll-access-violaton) which shows that others were having similar problems with ATI/AMD drivers. So I simply went into my driver repository and replaced the current atioglxx.dll with the previous version. Fixed the issue in VS. EDIT: This does not fix the issue when attempting to launch Leadwerks through Steam.
Josh
I recommend actually reinstalling the old driver, not manually copying DLLs.
