Deadlyforce
Right now I'm sitting at 188 MB of video memory usage. The game still runs at 60 FPS on an Alienware laptop with no problem. I want to do this all on my laptop and not my gaming desktop so it's portable. I added an elevator with a lot of polygons and the memory usage jumped a lot for one thing in game. I know I can get rid of some polygons and just add an image for the control panel. My question is, what should I target the video memory usage and what should be max? I know some people have super gaming computers but what would be the norm? Thanks for the help.
Brutile
There isn't really a 'norm'. That's why most games have graphics settings. You should pick a target device, i.e. your laptop, see what specs that's got, and go from there. As long as you are under the performance specs of your target, you should be fine. I'm no expert on performance, but I would say aim for under 80% of your target device's video memory.
Josh
I would not worry about it, unless you are getting into multiple gbs. Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.
