Thirsty Panther
I making my own Skybox using Bryce and Gimp using a dds plugin. I get a good result except for a one seam which appears around the negative Z image. Anyone have a solution? Or ideas how to fix it. Josh
I am seeing the same thing. What could be causing this? My default sky texture works fine... Josh
The only difference I can see is that you are using a cube cross and I usually use a 6x1 image. Thirsty Panther
I get the same problem with a 6x1 image. I've tried lots of variations. Increasing the resolution of the image improves it. Decreasing the resolution makes some of the other seams visible. Cropping the z image doesn't help.
Yue
My experience making custom skies is based on blitz3d, where the textures when loaded had the option to set a flag that was the number 49. With this was solved, can be something similar?
mdgunn
In an attempt to narrow down the problem with more data....have you tried images generated by others (preferably more than one source) and what were the results? Have you tried saving to different formats or from different software for the final image? Perhaps try saving out a working one from the software you save normal images and see if it breaks or continues to work.
Thirsty Panther
More data. Tried fresh project. Tried exporting images from paint.net instead of Gimp. Loaded Spacebox into net.paint and exported as dds file. Loaded the Spacebox from the Forth project straight into Leadwerks and still got the seam. Does anyone else have this problem. I'm starting to think its Leadwerks Skybox shader.

Yue
It's definitely a texture problem, it's not correctly sized for the skybox, here I've created a terragen skybox and it works very well. It's definitely a texture problem, it's not correctly sized for the skybox, here I've created a terragen skybox and it works very well. Yue
No this does not work, in the texture it seemed that it was going well, but already in the game you can see the fissure. Peón _ Alfa _ 0.0 09_04_2019 9_09_43.mp4
Yue
This has been partially solved, you only see the fissure at a certain camera angle when viewing the scenario. the texture configuration is this. Peón _ Alfa _ 0.0 09_04_2019 9_16_39.mp4
Yue
Tests indicate that the problem is solved if the texture is usually too large, at that point the fissure is not visible, if the textures are small the fissure is larger. But you can also perceive a strange object that refers to the edge of the object of the skybox. Peón _ Alfa _ 0.0 09_04_2019 9_45_35.mp4
Yue
Partial solution according to evidence. You need a very large texture, in my case I have a bmp of 144 megs, and exorbitant size, something very crazy for the sky box to look acceptable and the configuration for the texture Peón _ Alfa _ 0.0 09_04_2019 10_00_23.mp4
Yue
Final test with jpg 2.5 megas. I think it looks good. My hypothesis is that the cube is created for a predetermined size in relation to the texture, so it needs a large texture. Finally, the good thing about this is that I learned to create a skybox, I had reference to another method that seemed like a nightmare to me. Fishis!! Josh
Making the texture bigger is just hiding the problem. This should not be happening at all. I have never seen this occur. 2 My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.

If you totally agree, but it's the only solution at the moment, because it shouldn't be that way, it should work with any texture regardless of its size. But I don't know why this happens. In such a case it is a partial solution.
Thirsty Panther
If I use Chris V Skywerks textures from the Steam Workshop they work fine, no seams. So there is something going on in the convert texture to material part of the pipeline. The mystery continues.
