But I'm just looking for another perspective on her anatomy. I think claudia is her name. Actually what you guys said about hips the last time around was really helpful as I was really blind to the exaggerated effect until it was pointed out to me. Anyway arms and ears and shoes and stuff all pretty rough. Edit: Also someone mentioned the height of the ears on the head last time too which was also something that was helpful. Thanks. I went a wrong way, you don't go that way! there is many helpful anatomy references, just draw them first with simple lines and try to attend analogy.. if you don't have enough time for these, just use ready base meshes. you can find many of them for free, or use makehuman and sculpt on its models. and for each part of sculpting process, don't forget to put a reference beside you. do hairs after all parts. btw her face is so cute! wailingmonkey Posted June 21, 2010 Share Posted June 21, 2010 read what omid3098 wrote again...he's not saying you nailed it. if you are going for somewhat realistic: -head too small -hands too big (probably forearms too) -feet too big -legs too long in proportion to body if you are going for stylized...well, then do what you want. if you want more honest critiques from artists who do character art, then post this up at polycount.com or gameartisans or some such...and post shots of the model from ortho front/back/side rather than just perspective-3/4 and slightly above. Only in the past looking at them was information overload for me. Pancakes Posted June 21, 2010 Author Share Posted June 21, 2010 thanks yo well here is the pic I posted on polycount, I haven't gotten any advice yet because the admins haven't approved my first forum post see I tried to do like wailingmonkey said and keep in mind her hair and stuff is just me preparing a volume of geometry, it's not the actual hair sculpt. I have to make some custom alpha brushes for her hair, should be fun! I'm not sure if I'm even aiming for perfection, if that was even possible, I'm just aiming for it to be something I feel good about. wailingmonkey Posted June 21, 2010 Share Posted June 21, 2010 now it's easier to see proportions and form/placement. again, if you want realism (or close) then find some resource (there's tons) on the web to cross-reference your anatomy and proportions. It's off in lots of places, and a reference pic will tell you immediately where. (use 3dc's reference plane option, or just snapshot and align in Photoshop/Gimp) if you want to be stylized to a large degree, then it looks like you've got some reasonable landmarks in there to give the proper gender impression. regarding the hair, an option (since you're using 3dc) might be to create your planes with the retopo tool initially, then move/scale them a bit in blender. There's also lots of tutorials for hair and alpha planes around as well. good luck!
