Marleys Ghost
The vegetation system just doesn't make sense to use without collision. What is the point of trees with no collision? Grass? other vegetation that requires no collision? areas you wont be walking (strictly cosmetic) ? but it will be nice to have collisions on trees in a veg layer ( trees and rocks and ...) Marleys Ghost
thats why Trees and rocks should have their own layer, no with the bush, and grass layers. would it have been better to have No layers while waiting for the implementation of collisions on layers? Marleys Ghost
yeah it would Really?? M'Kay... I just wonder how many threads/posts of complaint there would be now if we didn't have a vegetation layer system of any kind currently. VicToMeyeZR
wait. that was your idea, not mine. I was trying to be agreeable.. Sounds like your just posting for the sake of argument. I was saying it would be better to NOT have trees in the vegetation layer system. Of course you don't have to put them in there. Marleys Ghost
wait. that was your idea It was clearly phrased as a Question AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4100 Black Edition 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz Memory Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550 Ti OC 1024MB GDDR5 Windows 7 Home 64 bit BlitzMax 1.50 • Lua 5.1 • MaxGUI 1.41 • UU3D Pro • MessiahStudio Pro • Silo Pro 3D Coat • ShaderMap Pro • Hexagon 2 • Photoshop, Gimp & Paint.NET LE 2.5/3.4 • Skyline • UE4 • CE3 SDK • Unity 5 • Esenthel Engine 2.0 Marleys Ghost's YouTube Channel • Marleys Ghost's Blog "I used to be alive like you .... then I took an arrow to the head"
VicToMeyeZR
thats called a "leading" question.. Which implies you are in agreement with the question, with the answer you were looking for, because had I said no, you would have disagreed with that also. Being disagreeable, just for the sake of argument, really no need for it. Marleys Ghost
I wonder which part of "It was clearly phrased as a Question" is incorrect or being disagreeable? The question was quite clear as was your reply. So I am not really sure why you insist this is "Being disagreeable, just for the sake of argument". cocopino
You have way too much time Marleys Ghost! In all fairness: using the vegetation tool for collidable objects is just for us lazy programmers. A level designer would probably rather place objects manually, giving much more control and yielding no collision issues. But the awesome auto-lod feature is now more or less useless, and that's a pity. Any of the following solutions should work: - having collision + vegetation layer - having a command SetModelBillboardDistance - having a separate auto-lod tool that can turn myobject.gmf into myobjectLOD.gmf desktop: Quad core Q6600 + 4GB + ATI HD4890 + XP laptop: Dual core T6400 + 4 GB + NVidia 9600M GT + Vista
Josh
I think we can all agree that yes this is needed, and yes it will be awesome. My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.
