Marleys Ghost
Then again, if you don't like it, don't buy it. There seems to be some kind of mentality across this forum that I'm taking the money out of your pocket by force. Not what I said at all or implied ... as for "if you don't like it, don't buy it" .. thats what I do anyway .. but its always nice to "try it" .. to be able to make that choice ... hence my enquiry .. which was self explanatory. Josh
Please keep criticism constructive. I think you will find you can voice the exact same concerns in two different ways, and one is rude while the other is helpful. I'm interested to see where this is going, but I also think more progress should be made before a commercial product is released, or at least a better presentation of what it is. No offense intended Lazlo, but you need to provide a demo for the practical reason, that we have to see if it works on our individual machines. I've tried a couple of utilities posted here and so far I haven't been able to get them to work very well on my machine and some haven't worked at all. You might want to vist IndieGamer (forums.indiegamer.com) and ask the developers there, how they protect their demos. Time limited demos are standard practice in online sales and distribution, so they will be able to give you good advice. Laurens
A few years back when I developed a pilots logbook application and wanted to create a trail version I just limited it in features, physically removing the code from the trail version to avoid people reverse-engineering the application (which was also written in .NET). Easy peasy and no extra code to deal with time limitations which may or may not have been circumvented. The full version code just wasn't there You will probably also want to run Dotfuscator or some other tool Anyhoo, looking forward to seeing more of this tool!
