3D World Studio?

Hi!

I'm thinking on 3D World Studio. I'm wondering if this program is for me.

I'm programmer but also I'm 3d designer, especially in architecture. The problem is that I take long on create buildings! and I'm looking a program that provided me this.

Should I buy 3D World Studio? I just want it to create buildings and interiors for Leadwerks.

Does anyone have the program you can comment something about it?

Thanks!

I'm a programmer, and for me 3DWS and UU3D is a must to have, since using Blender takes ages to get anything done, especially when I only need placeholder and test models, and for my own projects the 3DWS models are more than good. And I'm not going to pay $5000 for 3DSMax or Maya, artists have to do that though.

3DWS is old, and hasn't gotten any updates since years, but it still is the only tool to create exterior and interior buildings easily and efficiently. Maybe with a little practice you could get a similar easyness with Blender, but I don't have time accept Blender's non-CSG orientation (it does nice boolean ops (much nicer than 3DSMax), but it's not meant to do that). 3DWS is just the tool which does exactly what I want, and I don't care how old it is, it's worth the money.

You can even speed up your art creation time by creating a "draft" in 3DWS first, and then adding some details in Blender. Especially when creating huge building complexes this effect comes into play.

But what if the geometry inside the structure is high?

I have to admit that I feel occlusion culling is one of Leadwerks 2 weak points at least relative to cryengine and blender.

Anyways some people use sketchup also for making buildings. It is a little higher on the poly count, but probably not enough to slow down leadwerks I'd guess.

Zbrush/ Blender / Photoshop CS6 / Renoise / Genetica / Leadwerks 3

So, the occlusion culling of Leadwerks is bad? I have tried occlusion culling in other game engines. In some, the occlusion culling are very good, but in others are very bad and very slow! How is this system in Le2?

I just want 3DWS to create buildings and interiors, then, I want to create the objects with Blender and then setting the objects in the LE editor.

I have a question about UU3D. I make all the 3d models in Blender. UU3D can import and export my animations? if so, is it safer that doing it from Blender?

Thanks!

Yes, it exports animations too. You can export from Blender to one of the dozen formats supported by UU3D (through the free plugins on their download page) and from there you can export in GMF format (the plugin is available on that page). Or you can export directly from 3D Studio Max if you use it, through Arbuz's plugin for 3DSMax

Occlusion culling is enabled by default for lights and animated meshes. The occlusion culling test itself has a performance cost, and it is likely to slow down drawing of other objects more than it saves. You can enable occlusion culling for any individual high-poly mesh, but you typically don't need to.

My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.

Ok, this is good.

PD. I only use Blender.

Thanks Josh!

One more question... I bought LE2 few hours ago (about six hours), when I arrive more or less? I don't know the date of delivery.

I also bought 3DWS and I'm still waiting.

Thanks again!

EDIT: I have already Leadwerks engine!
