AggrorJorn
I am thinking of making a bunch of short video tutorials that cover a small subject or an interesting feature when using Leadwerks. For instance this topic: http://leadwerks.com/werkspace/index.php?/topic/3000-equal-game-speed/page__pid__27733#entry27733 I am going to make small video tutorials about this because its just really useful for everyone. Movies like that are easier to record and to edit and are approximately 5 minutes long. Any suggestions?
cassius
Yes .Great idea. I always find video tuts hard to follow, but short ones could be watched several times. gordonramp
This is a useful idea... How about 'setting up a simple text input box'. A compass, a health box, a third person camera, how to start on a day/night solution, how to start on a moving clouds solution, how to make an object fade out/fade in, how to make an object glow. Pancakes
Fantastic Idea. I think you should definately be hired as LE3's official docs guy. cassius
A tutorial on guns and how to fire bullets in a game would be wecome. Canardia
A tutorial on guns and how to fire bullets in a game would be wecome. That is in Power Tutorial, but it seems Josh has cleaned up the Wiki main page a bit, so I need to make a new website for custom tutorials Quote ■ Ryzen 9 ■ RX 6800M ■ 16GB ■ XF8 ■ Windows 11 ■ ■ Ultra ■ LE 2.5 ■ 3DWS 5.6 ■ Reaper ■ C/C++ ■ C# ■ Fortran 2008 ■ Story ■ ■ Homepage: https://canardia.com ■
AggrorJorn
day/night system and guns etc are hot topics but they are not really 'short tutorials' as they cover a lot of coding and explanation. I am more looking for small things atm.
Canardia
Just one line of code. Rick
Honestly all those systems can be done many different ways. Tutorials can be made on one way to do them but that doesn't mean it's the only way. Maybe a tutorial could be made to just describe how one could go about it, but not a detailed tutorial. Canardia
Sure, that would be a different kind of tutorial then. More like a general learning of possible ways to work. I think there should be both kinds of tutorials, hardcoded copypaste tutorials which compile and run, and then the theoretical tutorials which explain the philosophy of life and 3D game development Quote ■ Ryzen 9 ■ RX 6800M ■ 16GB ■ XF8 ■ Windows 11 ■ ■ Ultra ■ LE 2.5 ■ 3DWS 5.6 ■ Reaper ■ C/C++ ■ C# ■ Fortran 2008 ■ Story ■ ■ Homepage: https://canardia.com ■
cassius
Tutorials don't have to be a complete runnable program, they could just be a function we can slot into our existing game code. AggrorJorn
Okay so here is a short list of what I am planning: Equal game speed Font Studio Terrain editor Objects in your scene After these I will have a look at how to do something like guns in general. I have to figure that out anyway so it will come in handy.
AggrorJorn
5 minutes can be so easily exceeded, but here's the first one: Font studio. http://leadwerks.com/werkspace/index.php?/topic/3008-leadwerks-tutorial-font-studio/page__pid__27783#entry27783
