i am planning on developing a war game that has high endish graphics

i found leadwerks on google and i'm new here so hopefully you guys will help me out

i do not own the engine yet i am going to buy in a month or so though

 

i have 2 questions

can the engine import .x models

and is it direct x 11 yet?

Welcome!

It have OpenGL renderer. Why you so need DX11? Crysis2-killer? :)

It can't import X files, but it have good own format, and many converters to it.

"Better" is big enemy of "good"

It's question of definiton what "engine" means.

 

With the engine comes a bunch of tools which allows to convert from about 10 different formats (x, b3d, 3ds, dae, 3dw, fbx, md3, ...) to gmf format.

Then you can buy Ultimate Unwrap 3D and convert from hundreds of formats to gmf and to hundreds of other formats.

 

The engine runtime reads only gmf format, because it's an optimized game runtime format, while most other formats are transport formats, to make it easier to load and save them from 3D modelling programs, where loading and saving speed is not as important as the ability to fix files if they are wrong.

An .x to .gmf converter is provided.

 

and is it direct x 11 yet?

Leadwerks Engine uses OpenGL, and is the equivalent to DX10. Leadwerks Engine 3 uses OpenGL 4 and has tessellation. It's the same as DX11, except it will run on Windows XP.

is 3d world studio just a modeling program because i already have autodesk 3dsmax 2012

also how much will leadwerks 3 be?

i cant run evaluation kit because my laptop only has intel GMA4500 ( add support for intel one day )

i'm gonna buy a desktop later with ati radeon hd 5750 or maybe a nvidia gts 450

does leadwerks have a river editor

how would i be able to use speedtree 5 with it?

can i use it commercially unlimited?

will i be able to export to xbox 360 or ps3?

also can i export to macintosh i already know windows is accepted

3D World Studio is designed specifically for making buildings and interior scenes. It's a lot better at this than 3ds max is.

The price has not been announced, but it is cheaper to buy LE2 now and upgrade than to wait for LE3.

LE3 will run on your laptop. LE2 will not.

There's a river script one someone wrote for the editor. We don't support it ourselves.

LE3 runs on Mac computers.

LE3 runs on Mac computers.

 

Most LE2 executables will work in Linux, using wine, therefore the OSX port of wine should work too. But the executables themselves must be compiled as Windows executables, they cannot be compiled natively in Linux or OSX...
