Rekindled Phoenix
I am creating the test setup in LUA, and was wondering... how many polys can the standard Android device support with 30FPS minimum? (Since my computer runs at 500+ FPS it's not accurate to compare against a mobile device)

Rekindled Phoenix
idk! Can you run some tests for me please? ...even with the alpha LE Android engine Even a wide estimate is fine. 2K polys? 5K polys?
Josh
I can't tell. My HTC Evo is capped at 30 FPS and gets 7-16 FPS with 14,000 ploys. My iPhone gets 60 FPS with the same, the max framerate. I think this is going to vary wildly depending on hardware. Rekindled Phoenix
Interesting. When I submit you the content and the Lua scripts, I would like to request the files for me to test on my fiancee's HTC GalaxyS. Would this be possible? New goal: 5K polys... shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Josh
I won't promise that because you might have the android version you can use yourself by then, but I am certainly interested in testing performance. YouGroove
The texture resolution will also interfere with stress test performance, also HUD , lights , particles, etc ... will impact the overall number of polygons you can run compared to a simple running camera in a 3D scene. I think only by seeing some some little games running with LE3 , you will guess how far and how complex you'll will be able to go on mobile. Josh
I have found it isn't polygons that matter so much. Bumpmapped surfaces are far more demanding. These devices seem limited by pixel shaders for the most part. Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.
