Rick
Seriously, what is going on with the editor? I'm just typing and it crashes. Why did we need to even have a custom editor? Is it really needed?

Rick
I was typing the parameters to a function so I can only guess it's something with the intellisense. That's about as specific as I can get. That aside, why would we need our own editor? Just point people to eclipse. It supports lua syntax and is very flexible where I'm sure it can be setup to support LE commands also.

Rick
That's odd. I guess I'll pay more attention but I was just pressing tab 8 times for indenting and it crashed. You know what, I wonder if it's because I had the file open with eclipse also. I also think it's eclipse giving me the intellisense. My bad. AggrorJorn
it has nothing to do with what you typing. It happens a lot that that the engine crashes for no good reason. At least thats how it goes with me.
Rick
Yeah actually I notice it happens when I press tab really fast and often. I do this often because the editor doesn't seem to auto indent. I'm a slave to Ctrl-S now It crashed on me like 10 times in a row last night. VicToMeyeZR
lol. Rick I think you are more dedicated than most. I know I would have given up after the 4th crash, and started again the next day. Rick
I was determined to get that code in there. At some point I was laughing insanely and talking to the editor. It's kind of like when you don't have a car that always starts. You feel like if you talk to it and pet it gently that it'll be nice and start. I was doing that same thing. Each keystroke I would type slowly and softly. Basically pressing Ctrl-S after each one. I was able to that and not cause an error because this was code that only runs in game mode and not editor mode. If I code something that runs in editor mode I can't save until the command is complete because it'll give me an error prompt. For those I just type as fast as possible and save after a complete statement.
Josh
You can delete the scilexer DLL and the editor will use a different method of rendering text. It won't look as nice, though. There were earlier problems with scintilla crashing, but they seem to have been fixed, or so I thought. VicToMeyeZR
I think he determined that the having eclipse open with the same file is what caused it? Is that right Rick? Rick
No, on these latest crashes which seemed to happen when hitting tab many times, I didn't have eclipse open. So who knows.
