cassius
As its a quite night on the forum I thought I would try to get more views on a question I have asked before. I have some sword fights in my game and how to dwcide the outcome of these fights( who wins) is something I am pondering on and also how much control the game player should have over the main character during the fight sequences..Any ideas??? Road Kill Kenny
Hmm you may need to elaborate on what type of game you are making because after reading that I think, 'well whoever is not dead at the end of a sword fight wins.' However, I'm pretty sure there is more too it based on your post Quote STS - Scarlet Thread Studios AKA: Engineer Ken Fact: Game Development is hard... very bloody hard.. cassius
Well my main concern is that there is no skill involved in these sword fights, they just take place until a countdown of a health factor kills one or other. Rick
Is your system target based or free form fighting? Do you have special abilities or just simply swinging the sword? What kind of game are you looking to make?
cassius
Its a 3rd personadventure with puzzles and 4 swordfights. I am trying to make the swordfights more meaningfull in the cotext of the game. Scott Richmond
I'm confused, are you saying you want the fight to involve no skill? Does the player actually independently swing the sword or is it all automatic? The easiest way to do this would be to just give all sword fighters a 'strength' value and just do a health = health - strength. YouGroove
Will it include blocking ? You can make some static sword fight perhaps , if you make a puzzle game ! Goole for "Infinity Blade Iphone" , and you'll have some good sword system that can be done using keys or mouse , you can make such camera and system in a more simpler way also ! Clackdor
Attacker's hit score - Defender's defense score = health lost switch roles repeat until 1 is dead That's my tentative plan. Sounds like fun.
cassius
Yeah I think some varient of the health count is the way to go.
