Here is my features request for second release of LE3D.

Yes. I know that first one is not released yet but so far I know that some features probably won't show up in first release.

Some of those things might be in LE3D firs release already and may then be ignored.

If you know that any of the mentioned items is implemented already in LE3D first release, please tell.

  1. LE2-quality rendering (HDR, SSAO, Deferred rendering, sun-shafts, real-time shadows)
  2. Much better water. Current water is not good at all
  3. Automatic conversion of fbx to gmf at least on program start.
if( fbx newer than gmf ) convert ....
  4. Automatic conversion of image files to the new internal format
  5. Support for common image formats (tga, jpg, png)
  6. Snap-To function in the editor.
  7. Array-functions in the editor
  8. Groups in the the editor
  9. Image based brushes for the terrain editor
  10. Path-finding (if not already in first release)
  11. Possibility to create and share 'Prefabs'
  12. At least simple IK for 3 nodes (root, mid, target)
  13. Some kind of particle based fog-and-cloud system
  14. Trigger areas. Defining areas where a trigger even will be sent to a callback.
  15. Scaling in the editor

With those things in place I think most PC- and mobile- developers will be satisfied. At least I would smile.png

Terrain system, I like the chunked lod system we have now(if it is that), but it should be expanded to be movable, rotatable, have several ones in one world. Also wish we could control the tesselation of the chunks how much it should tesselate etc.

For the 3rd release of Leadwerks3D I want the following things:

1) Far range shadows without pixelation, and also with distance blur.

2) Sound collisions, reflections and refractions. Also doppler effects.

3) Mirrors and realtime cubemaps. Also wet shader using realtime cubemaps.

4) png support.

5) 7-zip support

6) incbin support, so that we can make single exe files

7) native 32-bit and 64-bit debian support

8) verlet physics based particles (although I think I rather make this myself)

You can protect yourself from the 12/21/12 thing by not using the US short hand date format

21/12/12 ... Nope, that doesn't work

12/12/21 ... Doesn't work either

There are no real alternatives to ISO date format (which I have invented btw., so nobody likes it):

2012-12-21

It sorts correctly when expressed as plain text, which no other date format on this planet does.

It's intuitive, nobody hates it because it's not tied to any country.

There is no better date format, and never will be.

Of course the time format can be appended to that, making it even more detailed, and no, you don't need the 'T' between, just a space will do. It must remain human readable and enjoyable.

Yeh cuz Linux really is the future of game development.... :l

Josh will be supporting Mac. Mac is Unix based. The Mac to Linux port is done in no time.

He will also support Android, which is all based on Linux. The Kernel itself has been heavily modified, but still it is Linux. So the major part of work will be done just by supporting mac and android.

I agree on all counts.
