Guest Saulius
and more about programming with leadwerks engine: will game developers disconnect from new c++ 0x standard ?
Canardia
Yes and no. The recent trend in game development is to use more C within C++ projects, because it's much faster to implement than those complicated C++ classes and their restrictions. Global variables for the win! Canardia
Only C is also not good, you must mix C++ and C in a convenient way. Both have their benefits and drawbacks, so just avoid the drawbacks of both and use the benefits of both. cassius
Its knowing what the drawbacks are. Thats the catch.I am just doing a c version of what I did in Bmax. There are a few differences but not a big deal. Canardia
You will see less drawbacks if you take stand on the C side and use casually some C++ classes. It comes naturally that way. You do in C++ what is too cumbersome in C. Josh
and more about programming with leadwerks engine: will game developers disconnect from new c++ 0x standard ? Probably not, unless it already does without me knowing it. I'm not interested in conforming to some obscure spec no one uses with an unpronouncable name. 3 Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without. ChrisMAN
My current project compiles against 0x standard with MinGW.
Josh
I actually wouldn't be surprised if the whole engine did. I am pretty conservative with which C++ features I make use of. At this point, if it compiles on Android, Windows, Mac, and iOS, it will likely build for anything.
