karmacomposer
I'm having the reverse problem. Anything I create in 3DWS and texture inside it does not import into Leadwerks engine properly, even though all textures are inside the same folder are converted to .dds Any thoughts? dennis
Export textured to X and open in UU3D. Then it will appear textured Dennis
karmacomposer
Dennis, You are right. I tried that before I read your solution and it worked perfectly. Now - SCALE. Has anyone figured out a good way to scale DOWN a scene made in 3DWS for use in Leadwerks? The corridor I made is GINORMOUS. Would be great for a massive ship scene, but the textures are too lo-res for that. What texture size would you need for a REALLY large corridor? 4096x4096? dennis
Hey mike, Use units of one. For your problem in tex scale. Select all. Use the second option from that 3 cube thingys and it then allows you to scale down. Select 0.1 or 0.001 Cheers

macklebee
the scale relationship from 3dws to LE 128 to 1. So a cube made in 3dws that is 128x128x128 will be a 1x1x1 meter cube in LE Quote Win7 64bit / Intel i7-2600 CPU @ 3.9 GHz / 16 GB DDR3 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 LE / 3DWS / BMX / Hexagon macklebee's channel
dennis
Mike. With the 3 cube thingy i meant the following. You can select the whole model, or just an square or segment can you upload an picture of the 3dws interface i dont have an computer here since I'm not at home and didn't bring my laptop because my backpack was alread 30 kg's (60 lbs)
macklebee
Export textured to X and open in UU3D. Then it will appear textured no you do not have to do this. http://www.leadwerks.com/werkspace/topic/5776-solved-exporting-from-3d-world-studio-not-going-right/#entry50169 Quote Win7 64bit / Intel i7-2600 CPU @ 3.9 GHz / 16 GB DDR3 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 LE / 3DWS / BMX / Hexagon macklebee's channel
dennis
I also tried that mack. But it appears that 3dws didn't export the model quite good because the scène was like 200kb and the actual scène was big enough to be like 50mb as it exactly was. So tried to export and then import. That just worked fine
macklebee
If you are making your one model that big you are doing it wrong as you lose any hope of using occlusion culling in LE. The scene should be broken up in pieces and saved as gmf's individually then aligned in LE's scene editor. Right now, if I scale the model down, the textures don't scale with it. So I have these huge rivets (metal texture with rivets) and disproportionate texture in a smaller corridor, but its still too large. How do I do this so that I can create a corridor in 3D WS and bring it into LE at the proper scale? The 3D WS to UU3D pipeline does import into LE fully textured. I can convert textures to .dds files with LE tools, but I have no clue how to create a .mat file! cassius
I just select all and manualy scale down. Its not precise and may take several attempts but I get there in the end. The textures seem to be scaled down too.
