ParaToxic
Hey ya, I would like to make a scene or an environment with a kind of apocalyptical atmosphere.I saw a very cool scene:() in that game and would like to make a similar one. This should look like a very hot scene ( you see that in the pic ) with this dark yellow ambient. Maybe you can give me some suggestions for that. I also search for a website with free sky maps ( cubemaps ) for that kind of scene. Looking forward to read some comments
Pixel Perfect
Well that scene actually looks very cold (although the colors are warm) and not very apocalyptical (everything looks intact, not in a state of disrepair or destroyed ... but then maybe that's post-apocalypical) but if you are looking to recreate that type of atmosphere in the picture then I think you will need to construct your textures to closely match a suitably constructed color pallette and apply desaturation to the scene. With regard to the lighting ... to get that very bright slightly washed out look, that a really hot bright sunlit day gives, I find you have to raise the intensity of the directional light in Leadwerks from its default of 1.0 Quote Intel Core i5 2.66 GHz, Asus P7P55D, 8Gb DDR3 RAM, GTX460 1Gb DDR5, Windows 7 (x64), LE Editor, GMax, 3DWS, UU3D Pro, Texture Maker Pro, Shader Map Pro. ChrisMAN
I would just take a normal skybox and apply a hue/saturation in photoshop with the colorize option on. You could even use a post process. It is like the grey scale but yellower. I am going to be hand painting a skybox in a couple weeks. I am very intimidated. This looks awesome havn't played with it yet. http://mouaif.wordpress.com/2009/01/05/photoshop-math-with-glsl-shaders/
ParaToxic
Well thanks for the comments. I made a short testscene and I think it should have a atmosphere like that. The idea is that you break out from the underground ( yes I have a game story for that ) and the earth is very hot and near to the sun, so I need this kind of set. What do you think about that: I really like this washed out look , but I don't know if it looks okey without a skybox ( I mean when the sun is so bright you don't see any clouds ). Pixel Perfect
I'd say that's looking pretty darn good Quote Intel Core i5 2.66 GHz, Asus P7P55D, 8Gb DDR3 RAM, GTX460 1Gb DDR5, Windows 7 (x64), LE Editor, GMax, 3DWS, UU3D Pro, Texture Maker Pro, Shader Map Pro. ChrisV
Did someone say 'skybox'? @Paratoxic: need an apocalyptic skybox? Send me a bit more details (sun/clouds position, cloud types (stratus, cirrus, etc...), and I'll create any type of skybox you'll need. 4 Quote My Artwork. Send me a bit more details (sun/clouds position, cloud types (stratus, cirrus, etc...), and I'll create any type of skybox you'll need. How about creating a little mini-tutorial on how to create and implement a skybox in Leadwerks 2.5? I can create graphics, but I have yet to delve into Leadwerks at all. Currently, I WAS using the S2 engine, but their development has slowed down so much as to be stale, that it is as of yet unuseable for my purposes. However, their sky and sun is the best I have EVER seen (www.s2powered.com). How can I create that multi-layered real-life sky and atmosphere in Leadwerks?
