gordonramp
CharacterFX has been unsupported for years. I suggest milkshape3d. At $35 it's a great way to begin modelling animating and rigging, is easy to use, has a large forum and regular updates. Pixel Perfect
I'd recommend Fragmotion. It's really easy to use with good tools and fairly cheap@ $50 Fragmotion Quote Intel Core i5 2.66 GHz, Asus P7P55D, 8Gb DDR3 RAM, GTX460 1Gb DDR5, Windows 7 (x64), LE Editor, GMax, 3DWS, UU3D Pro, Texture Maker Pro, Shader Map Pro. afecelis
pacemaker became free and has been a great skeletal animation tool for b3d: http://www.goddysey.com/pacemaker.htm Dunno how bones will behave when saving them to gmf though, but it sure is a nice tool to have. @PixelPerfect: have you tried exporting animated characters from Fragmotion to LE? If so, how did you achieve it? Is there a GMF exporter for fragmotion? @Niosop: have you got any info on how to get your rigged characters from blender to gmf? Niosop
@Niosop: have you got any info on how to get your rigged characters from blender to gmf? I just export as FBX and they convert over fine using ConvertMesh. Although the last one I did I actually exported as FBX from blender, imported into Animeeple, put together an animation track, exported as Collada, used the Autodesk FBX converter to convert that back to FBX (because I didn't feel like paying $50 for the FBX exporter module for Animeeple) then used ConvertMesh to convert it into GMF. Some versions of the FBX exporter in blender had an error, but it's easy enough to fix. If yours doesn't work let me know and I'll walk you through fixing it.
