CGMan
what features will the lightmap generator have? can we use ambient occlusion/indirect lighting? I don't need this, I'm just interested
josk
So if I have this right to make games for mobile you would have to use C++ or LUA, Could you make a complete game with LUA? I used BlitzMax with LE2 but I assume you could only do PC games with that. Quote Elite Cobra Squad
Canardia
Yes, you can make full games with Lua, if your games can be realized with Lua. Josh
Our example game Darkness Awaits is written entirely in Lua. I was worried at first it might be too slow to script the whole thing, but it turned out Lua is fast enough for what we are trying to do. I know for a fact that i have gotten burned by simple things like exiting a function early. Microbenchmarks put it at 70-80% native C. I would be curious to see what the lua profiler says. https://gist.github.com/perky/2838755
Josh
It's fast, but claiming 80% the speed of native C is just wishful thinking. ChrisMAN
Josh will you expose LuaJITs ffi package to LE3? It should just work out of the box but le does something funny i don't understand. I consider ffi to be superior workflow to creating bindings in many cases.
Josh
Leadwerks 3 is a little more transparent, so you can go crazy with that kind of stuff. Josh
Brushes are CSG geometry created in the editor. There is presently no support for importaint Quake or other CSG files.
