ShufordTechnology
I could only get the older version to compile and run. Stable and dev versions both show the same error. The older version ran, but is missing features found in the newer version like material painting. Also a side note, the older version crashes when trying to download a material from ambientcg from within the editor. (LNK1127 library is corrupt) Thanks,
Josh
Hi, the AmbientCG.com downloader is no longer supported. They are making changes to their web API and it will not be used in the future. Josh
I just uninstalled and reinstalled the engine using the client application. I am using the /dev branch. Both the debug and release builds of a new C++ project compiled correctly. Maybe your computer was not able to download the library files correctly, or maybe you are not using Visual Studio 2022? You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the engine (just press the uninstall button in the client app and re-download the /dev version, you don't have to uninstall the client). If you continue to have problems I can send you a Steam key instead, if you wish. Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without. ShufordTechnology
Thanks Josh. Will the installation throw an error if it's a disk space issue? This might have been the cause.
Solution Josh Posted February 9 Solution Share Posted February 9 I'm not sure. It's supposed to check file sizes, but it's a rare situation. Because the unzip step is handled by tar, it might be possible there is an error unzipping that is not being detected. The C++ library files are pretty big! For the current build on the /dev branch: Debug: 2,050,371,568 bytes Release: 739,661,060 bytes Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without. ShufordTechnology
Josh, everything worked perfectly this morning after clearing some space on my hard drive. It would be cool if I could select a custom installation path. Regardless, I'm very happy with this, and I can tell that I'm about to have a lot of fun. Thank you!
