Andy Gilbert
Ive done a bit more work on my litle town and so thought i would open a thread to show it. The game if i keep up the motivation will hopefully be a "high camera" 3rd person, so sort of top down but 3rd person (there might be an actual term for this view), infact its not far off the camera view in the image. So anyway my blog for my first CSG attempts is here: http://www.leadwerks.com/werkspace/blog/111/entry-1139-csg-editing-in-leadwerks-3/ The idea of this is market town style with these buildings going around the whole town (working as level bounderies) and some you can enter and "do things". Still CSG only all in editor. Thanks Andy 5 Quote The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do. Josh
My only suggestions would be to rotate the texture along the edges of the roofs and make use of smooth groups for some of those arches. You'll get the best results using CSG for the big sections and then adding small repeating details with models. cassius
Looking very good. Can those buildings be entered? Quote amd quad core 4 ghz / geforce 660 ti 2gb / win 10 Blender,gimp,silo2,ac3d,,audacity,Hexagon / using c++
Andy Gilbert
Thanks for the advise josh, will play more with smoothing groups next. The buildings arnt currently enterable as such. What will happen is you when you entered it loads a level that is the inside of that building. Andy 1 Quote The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. cassius
Thats a good solution. I have often wondered if it could be done that way. Andy Gilbert
Just another quick update of a bit more progress. as a small change i started a few shops that will sit in the market place. Ive also added a details that ive modelled today (lamps, street lamps stallite dish etc). I also wanted to try and get an idea of how the movement will be and the view so i can realy see which parts of the level need detail ETC so i implimeted the character controller and did a quick video as below. Thanks Andy 6 Quote The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do. SlipperyBrick
This is all done from the brushes built into LE?
YouGroove
@Andy : That's really good. What you would need is to break the squarry BSP overall look, for example green rectangles in front of houses, make them with rounded corners, or some demi circle - Market houses : like you've done, they should be street shops instead. If market they are more tents like , no big concrete houses Also you could break textures for example in the big church, put the bottom with a different texture. Same for other buildings use same texture with a different colorization in texture parameters or paint in the texture directly ( the blue is just a paint over to show it) Quote Stop toying and make games
